Gibson, the world's tallest dog, has recently had his front leg amputated due to bone cancer.

Merlin, a BIG DOG Bunch member, has been involved in making changes to a familiar
storybook tale called "The Tortoise and the Hare". Merlin thought it to be more exciting to add
a mischeivious Great Dane into the story's moral. Merlin took it upon himself to catch a baby bunny
in which his owners confiscated promptly. Later that same day, it was reported that Merlin had
found a box turtle and transported it by mouth to the middle of the yard where, again, the creature
was confiscated. Both animals were returned, unharmed, to the wild where they belong. Merlin
has changed history as well as the title of the story. You now know the new tale "The Tortoise,
The Hare and The Dane".

$5.00 or more donation.....................Your Dane will receive a tag that states "I'm a member of the BIG DOG Bunch"
All donations will be charity. We are no longer subtracting funds to cover the costs of fund-raisers. What I put into the BDB
serves as my donation. My out-of-pocket costs that purchase supplies for our meetings, including paper, pens, clipboards,
complimentary dog treats, door prizes, dog tags, miscellaneous items for sale, stamps, ink carts, etc. are my contributions that
I use to create opportunities to make larger donations than I could ever make myself. I love what I do when it comes to The
BIG DOG Bunch. It is better than I imagined it would be and I will continue to do my best to raise money for our homeless

Charity will be sent to Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue of Ohio and/or to The Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League in
Maryland (this rescue covers all of WV) to supply many homeless Great Danes with food, medical care and general supplies.
Those on our mailing list will receive a report after each meeting describing how much money we raised for charity.
I will also post this information below, which will be updated after each meeting.
At the October 13, 2007 meeting, we raised a total of $18.00.
$1.00 for each tag distributed=$3.00 to fund-raisers
$15.00 in donations to Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue in Ohio!!
I also received a $25.00 donation from my grandmother, Phyllis Day, which I am using for stamps & supplies.
At the December 3, 2007 meeting, we raised a total of $54.00!!! WOW!!!

At the April 18, 2009 meeting, we raised a total of $198.00!!! SUPER-DUPER WOW!!!!
PLUS we have received some on-line and snail mail donations as well!!
We are planning a HUGE fund-raiser to take place on Sept. 5, 2009 during the Shadyside Community Days
in Shadyside, OH. It is a dog parade for all breeds with a registration/donation fee of $5.00 per dog.
All money made will benefit our Great Dane rescues as well as our local animal shelters. We are also doing
a supplies drive for our local animal shelters. We are reserving some of the donations to fund this event.
So we have decided to add the $2.00 to the wopping $198 to make an even $200 to donate to our rescues.
The on-line and snail mail donations are being reserved for the upcoming event.

We couldn't be happier with The BIG DOG Bunch 's success! Our donations grow with every meeting held!! It gives us goose
bumps to think of everyone's generosity and how much difference we are making in the lives of those Danes who have been
neglected, starved, wounded and abused. It takes special people to keep this going and we can't thank God enough for our
members who make it happen.

Adoption fees are per owner's request to filter serious, respectable prospects. Current owners can no longer care for these pups due to a change in family care taking. These guys are biological brothers, meaning they came from the same litter. They can be adopted together or seperately.

Well, nobody won the Jambo tickets, so there is no raffle. We are planning a more reliable fund raiser, the Pup Parade. It will be held
on or around September 5, 2009 at the Shadyside Community Days Festival. There will be a registration/donation fee of $5.00 per dog.
The parade is open to all dogs, any breed and proceeds will benefit our Great Dane rescues as well as our local animal shelters. We are also
doing a supplies drive for our local animal shelters.

VOLUNTEERS, foster homes, liquid laundry detergent, bleach, towels, blankets, pet toys, cat entertainment, anti-bacterial soaps, copy paper, envelopes, postage stamps, newspapers, aluminum cans, latex gloves, canned cat food, collars, leads, brushes, grooming aids, and individuals who will walk dogs on the walking trail.

We would love to get our paws on these: canned cat & dog food, dog & cat collars, leashes, large dog toys, cat toys, dog & cat flea shampoo, non-clumping clay cat litter, bleach, laundry detergent, paper towels, hand sanitizer, towels & blankets!!

We now have an on-line store selling T-shirts, sweatshirts, gifts and more!! How it works: Cafepress.com offers us a free store. They have
"base prices" for each of their items. There is an extra $3.00 fee for printing on both sides of an item. Then, we add our mark-up, which is
generally $5.00. That $5.00 is what we use as our donation to the Great Dane rescues mentioned above. So, in review, we make approximately
$5.00 from each item we sell! It is a win-win situation: You purchase a shirt for yourself or a gift, we make $5.00 to donate to the rescue, and you
feel great wearing your shirt knowing you helped shelter, feed and medicate homeless Great Danes!! It doesn't get any better than that!! So, visit

We had a very nice turn out for this meeting with a total of 12 very attractive Danes attending! Here we have Bo and Cam who are biological brother and sister! They were rescued and now live together as family! Cam is a returning member and introduced Bo to the gang. Welcome Bo!! Next we have Riley, and very handsome brindle who has out-towered our tallest, Tecate!! He isn't even done growing!!! Riley is a new member and we are happy to have him on board the S.S. BIG DOG!!! Welcome Riley!! Another new member, Merlin, joined our group! He is a stout, young brute who made a very generous donation to the homeless Danes! Thanks Merlin and welcome to the BDB!!! Moving on, we have Tecate, Queen of the BDB. She loves hosting the meetings and donating all the door prizes. Anything to help out those homeless Danes!! Also pictured above is Vegas, another loyal, returning beauty! She really loves romping around with her friend Achilles, yet another loyal, returning member!! The BDB meetings are a playdate for these two and we all love to see them play!! Moving on, we have Tecate, Queen of the BDB. She loves hosting the meetings and donating all the door prizes. Anything to help out those homeless Danes!! Next we have Boots and Tucker, a rescued returning couple committed to helping the BDB! These two were very lucky to have escaped their grim fate when their new owners whisked them away to their new spoiled life!!! Last, but certainly not least, we have Kya and Punkin. They are dedicated members who really enjoy the meetings!! They are also very lucky dogs, winning our Lucky Dog drawing once again! Congrats girls!!! We also had a latecomer, CamShaft. He is an active young fawn with a black mask. We didn't get his picture because he came when we were packing everything up. Maybe next time!!! Thanks for coming anyways!!! Better late than never!!!

THE EASTER EGG HUNT
This picture is unique because it shows the three biological brother and sisters who were rescued from the same
vulgar breeder. These wonderful people saved these Danes from starvation, neglect and abuse. All three are fawns:
Cam (left), Punkin (back, center) and Bo (right).Also pictured is Merlin in the mix!! He's the speckled brute in the center!
We'd like to thank those members for participating in yet another good cause!
Miss Vegas, pictured center, also walked for MS! Well done Vegas!
We would have liked to participate in the MS walk as well, but Sam and Koen were both feeling a little under the weather.
